More than 70 knives were surrendered and a man from Bushey was arrested during a week of action for Operation Sceptre, a national knife crime initiative.
Towards the end of last year, Safer Neighbourhood Teams held 10 events across the country where unwanted knives were surrendered.
In addition, officers also stopped anyone who was suspected to be in possession of a knife.
On Saturday, November 19, officers from the team stopped a vehicle in Torworth Road, Borehamwood. A search of the vehicle was carried out and a knife and cannabis were seized. The occupants, two men aged 19 from Bushey and Borehamwood, were arrested for possession of a bladed article in a public place and possession of cannabis.
Safer Neighbourhood Inspector for Hertsmere Rachael Robertson said: “Knife crime in Hertsmere remains low, but we are always keen to engage fully with national Operation Sceptre targeted events as it provides us with the opportunity to carry out a focused week of activity.”
