A Northwood Scout played a key role in His Majesty King Charles III’s coronation last month.
Zachary Ward was part of a team of 50 Scouts who were among the first to see the nation’s new King emerge from Westminster Abbey on May 6.
The Scouts helped to coordinate and support the historic event. As crowd stewards, they marshalled huge swells of people at locations including St James’s Park, Hyde Park, Green Park, and the Admiralty Arch.
Zachary said: “Being at Westminster Abbey felt incredible. The buzz and excitement from everyone in the crowds were amazing. Knowing I was front line with my fellow Scouts to help the other staff members with how smoothly the day ran, makes me so proud. As well, being part of such a historic moment in time feels surreal – I can’t wait to tell my future grandkids!
“Volunteering is so integral to everything we do at Scouts, and I love it – it’s brilliant to be part of an initiative that wants to share this with the nation.”
