JUSTICE SERVED: Watford police team seizes drugs worth more than £192,000 in 2024

A Watford police team seized drugs with a combined street value of more than £192,000 and made 81 arrests in 2024.

Scorpion officers have been busy over the last 12 months. The small team, who focus on acquisitive crime, also completed 96 stop and searches (40 of which led to positive finds), 150 pieces of intelligence were submitted, 46 search warrants were executed, and dozens of dangerous weapons were seized.

Watford Chief Inspector Andy Wiseman said: “Our Scorpion officers work relentlessly to pursue criminals and bring them to justice. They operate in plain clothes, patrol in unmarked vehicles and work to make Watford a difficult place for criminals to operate through focused and intelligence-led activity. They also promote crime prevention measures and provide advice to our communities.

“I look forward to seeing our Scorpion officers build on what they have achieved in 2024 and hope over the next 12 months we continue to show criminals that they are not welcome in our town and will do everything we can to keep our residents safe.”
