A Kings Langley man who charged clients more than £60,500 while pretending to be a solicitor has been jailed for more than three years.
Back in February, Kings News reported that Dean Charnley, 44, of Ovaltine Court, was charged with fraud by false representation. He pleaded guilty to the offence at St Albans Magistrates’ Court on Friday, February 14.
The charge came after he allegedly accepted money to act as a solicitor for two people and failed to do the legal work they had paid for between August 2018 and June 2019.
At a hearing at St Albans Crown Court on Friday, March 7, Charnley was sentenced to 40 months’ imprisonment.
He has since been involved in two further mention hearings and is due to attend another one on Tuesday, October 21, at the same court.
Though Charnley is currently serving his sentence, no fine has yet been given.
