Protesters blockaded the Buncefield Oil Depot in Hemel Hempstead this morning (Friday, April 1).
Demonstrators are in a stand-off with police and the fire service and have commandeered a diesel tanker. They have climbed on top of the vehicle, chained themselves to it on the top and underneath and have let the tyres down.
It was one of 10 depots targeted by campaigners called Just Stop Oil.
The protest began at around 4am.
A spokesperson for Hertfordshire Police said: “We are currently dealing with an incident in Green Lane, Hemel Hempstead, where a number of people are blocking the entrance to a site.
“Our officers are currently working to resolve the situation safely, and nearby roads may be affected as a part of this.
“We are urging people to avoid the area where possible and plan their journey accordingly. We appreciate your patience and understanding.”
