Councillors have agreed controversial plans to build a dinosaur-themed golf course at a sports centre near Stanmore.
Despite concerns raised by neighbours and ward councillors, the 18 hole adventure golf course was approved by Harrow Council’s cabinet on land at Bannister Sports Centre in Uxbridge Road.
It will feature props – some seven metres high with roaring sounds – and parking facilities.
Several local residents expressed concerns about the number of extra cars and traffic coming to the area as well as the tall dinosaurs causing a hinderance to the landscape.
The fact the golf course is to be built on Green Belt land was also questioned.
The application comes with strict conditions that must be adhered to. These include retained trees must not be chopped down, biodiversity and ecology of the land to be protected and a noise survey report to name a few.
Leader of Harrow Council, Graham Henson, said he was “satisfied” with the council’s assessments of the plans and believes the parking is adequate.
