Joshua wins WBC International Belt

Garston boxer Anthony Joshua took another giant step on his way to stardom by stopping Kazakhstan’s Denis Bakhtov in the second round at the O2 Arena on Saturday.

It was the first time the Kazakh had been stopped in a decade and with that stoppage, Joshua claimed the WBC international belt. Joshua said that Bakhtov wasn’t an easy opponent but he wanted to make light work of him and added how much he is enjoying training. Promoter Eddie Hearn lauded Joshua’s victory saying that it was phenomenal performance and sent a chilling warning to his rivals and that Joshua will get “better and better.” After recording his ninth win in nine fights, Joshua is now due to veteran Michael Sprott at the Echo Arena in Liverpool on November 22. If Joshua wins that bout, calls for him to fight David Price will get louder and louder in what would be an enthralling fight between two of Britain’s most exciting heavyweights.
