JOIN IN: Watford Mayor launches Christmas photography competition to support charities

Published on: 16th October 2022   |   By: News Bulletin   |   Category: Uncategorized

Residents of all ages are invited to submit festive photos for a chance to feature on this year’s Watford Mayor’s charity Christmas card.

This year’s theme celebrates Watford at Christmas, providing photographers with an opportunity to creatively capture the borough’s vibrant festive spirit. Submissions can be existing photos taken in previous years or imaginative new designs to reflect the festive season this year.

Entries are encouraged from professionals and amateurs alike with the winning entry personally selected by Elected Mayor of Watford, Peter Taylor.

Every year, the Mayor sends out a card which is sponsored by local firms to charities, voluntary groups and businesses across the town. This year’s proceeds will be donated to local charities, Home Start Watford and Citizen’s Advice Watford who are providing vital support to families during the cost of living emergency.

To submit entries, images should be emailed to themayor@watford.gov.uk by November 7 2022. Winners will be announced on November 8, 2022.

Elected Mayor of Watford, Peter Taylor said: “This year has been especially difficult for local charities. The cost-of-living emergency has increased demand for support but fewer people have been able to donate.

“The Christmas card competition is a great way of showing the amazing artistic talent we have here in Watford and raise money for charity at the same time”.

“I look forward to receiving the entries and hope we can raise a significant amount for Home Start and Citizens Advice Watford.”

Last year, a local student at Beechfield School created the Christmas card for the Elected Mayor of Watford Peter Taylor, and helped raise over £7,500 for local charities Random Café and Playskill.
