Police in South Oxhey have secured a full closure order on an address in the area following multiple calls about criminal activity and anti-social behaviour at the property.
The order was granted by St Albans Magistrates’ Court on September 26 and prohibits anyone from entering the address in Elliott Court, on Oxhey Drive, for the next three months.
Anyone who does so will be arrested and could face a fine of up to £5,000, a prison sentence, or both.
Police began investigating the address after receiving numerous calls about drug misuse, thefts of mail and loud music throughout the night.
Officers from the Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT), supported by the Watford and Three Rivers Community Safety Unit, worked with local residents and partner agencies to compile evidence which was presented to the court to help secure the order.
SNT Sergeant Andrew Blackwood said: “Crime and anti-social behaviour has a devastating effect on local communities and no one should have to live in fear of their neighbours.
“This closure order will hopefully provide respite for the local residents and send a message that this type of behaviour will not be tolerated and we will seek to take action against those who cause misery for others.
“Anyone with information about anti-social behaviour or criminal activity in their neighbourhood is urged to please report the details to us so that we can take action to make your community safer. Your calls make a real difference.”
