Northwood Ninjas was started 7 years ago by local residents Alpa Patel and Hollea Shah. The club started as a ‘Back to Netball’ session in Northwood providing adults of all abilities the opportunity to learn netball and build their fitness. The club has since grown and now boasts two ladies teams and a significant junior club.

The 2021/22 seasons have been the clubs most successful yet. Northwood Ninjas Lions won Division 5 in the Queensnorth League. While the juniors enjoyed further success with wins in Kingsmead’s U12 winter league and U13 summer league.

Girls can join the junior club to start learning netball from age eight and play through until they join the senior (ladies) age categories. Northwood Ninjas provide opportunities to compete for all levels with the youngest taking part in training games and friendlies as soon as they are ready!

Northwood Ninjas have active U11, U12, U13 and U15 squads who compete in local leagues., They’ve also launched a schools programme providing free termly netball club to children at Holy Trinity School.

Northwood Ninjas Ladies, the senior club, is an inclusive training session reflecting its ‘Back to Netball’ roots with all abilities welcome to come and improve their netball. For those interested in competing the club currently has two squads, Ninjas Lions and Ninjas Tigers, who compete in the Queensnorth League at Northwood College for Girls School courts.

Head coach Alpa said: “We are passionate about giving girls and adults the opportunity to learn and develop their netball. ‘It is a great sport to develop all round fitness as well as individual and team skills.

“We also see how it helps build young people’s confidence and promote positive mental wellbeing. We are an inclusive club who pride ourselves on our team approach. Having fun is key to our ethos!’

Northwood Ninjas trains at the Northwood School grounds, the juniors on Wednesday and Friday afternoon/evening, and the Seniors on Wednesday evenings. The Juniors Summer Camp is taking place 22/23/24 August. To find out more or book a place on the Summer Camp please email northwoodninjasnetball@gmail.com
