Latvia now has a consulate in Northwood – at the home of Sir Mark and Lady Boleat in Westbury Road.
The consulate was formally established at a reception on October 3 presided over by the Latvian Ambassador to the UK, Her Excellency Baiba Braže, who spoke about the long and close contacts that existed between Britain and Latvia.
Sir Mark Boleat, in response, said he had developed a strong relationship with Latvia when he was political leader of the City of London between 2012 and 2017 and that he was delighted to help promote business and education links between Latvia and Hertfordshire.
The event was attended by the Lord-Lieutenant of Hertfordshire, Robert Voss CBE, the chair of Hertfordshire County Council, Colette Wyatt-Lowe, and representatives of the Hertfordshire Chamber of Commerce, the Hertfordshire Business and Enterprise Partnership, the University of Hertfordshire and local residents.
