A talented health worker from Shenley has been presented with the Rising Young Star of 2020 award by the NHS.
Out of all young health workers in Hertfordshire, Tia Posner (pictured), 24, was presented the award by the Hertfordshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (HPFT) as part of their annual staff awards.
The assistant psychologist, who was voted for by her colleagues at the secure mental health unit where she works, was presented the award during an online award ceremony on December 2.
Her mum, Toni, said: “Tia is very humble and not at all an attention seeker, so I wanted to make as big a deal out of this as possible.
She’s worked so hard throughout the pandemic. They’ve been pretty understaffed where she works, so she’s been running through all the different departments, doing whatever she can and going beyond what’s expected of her.
“She’s helped so many people, both staff and patients.
“She’s worked incredibly long hours, taking extra time to comfort patients who are worried about COVID-19 – a lot of them have mental health problems, of course, so she’s been looking after them if they’re scared to come out of their rooms or to eat properly.
“She regularly takes them into common room and tries to keep them amused however she can.
“She’s done her parents, grandparents and fiancé so proud and we just want to emphasise that fact, because she did miss out on the big awards ceremony the NHS would have held if it were possible.”
