A 62-year-old personal trainer from Pinner has been keeping her neighbours fit and healthy during the lockdown period by hosting street exercising sessions completely free of charge and has been overwhelmed with the response she has received.
Pushpa Sethi started it all back in April and have carried on all through the Summer, with up to three sessions taking place during the week which has attracted people from all ages.
Speaking to PinnerNews, she said: “My neighbour and friend asked me one day if I would do some sessions from her doorstep and I thought it would be a really good idea, but I definitely didn’t expect as many people to join in as they do.
“I think the most I have had is 16 people and even passers by have started to join in. I think it really cheers people up and gets them inspired to keep fit and healthy during these times.
“One person even came up to me and said she had been feeling really upset and down during the lockdown but that the sessions has really cheered her up and inspired her.”
Pushpa has had people join in from all ages, including a family of four with the youngest child being just four years old, and even had elderly residents in their 80s come along.
She added: “Not only has it helped the people who have got involved but it has helped keep me busy as well until I am able to get back to working.
“The sessions change every time, sometimes it’s more dancing and other times it can be mainly focussed on stretching, but its always a really fun thing to do and something for everyone to look forward to.”
