A vital local charity established by a Chorleywood resident has thanked supporters by releasing an inspiring audiobook. Cure Parkinson’s was founded in 2005 by Tom Isaacs, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease at 27.
He set it up with Sir Richard Nichols, Air Vice Marshal Michael Dicken, and Sir David Jones, hoping to find a lasting cure for himself and countless others.
Marking its 20th anniversary, the charity has released an “audiobook journey like no other” as a thank you to those who have supported them. Shake Well Before Use recounts Tom’s Coastin’ mission, a 4,500-mile walk around Britain’s coastline in 2002, seven years after his initial diagnosis.
Narrated by Tom himself, the audiobook is infused with his distinctive humour, profound honesty, and unwavering belief in a brighter future. The audiobook also features his wife, Lyndsey Isaacs, who met Tom before Coastin’ and joined him at various points. Helen Matthews, CEO of Cure Parkinson’s, who handled PR for his mission, and Will Cook, a cherished childhood friend and former CEO, are also included.
Will Cook told reporters: “Tom would absolutely love this, seeing his incredible work and how far the charity has come. He’d be so proud to witness how fast we are working towards a cure, and the immense hope that this incredible charity gives to people around the world.”
The audiobook is available on streaming platforms like Spotify. More information can be found at cureparkinsons.org.uk
