‘INCREDIBLE DAY’: Northwood girl becomes first British-Indian six year old to model for brand

A Northwood girl has become the first British-Indian six year old to model for the designer clothing brand Burberry.

Siya Mehta, who attends Eastbury Farm Primary School, features in Burberry’s Spring 2025 online catalogue. She was chosen from a huge pool of applicants, leaving her family “absolutely delighted”.

Northwood & Ruislip News spoke to Siya’s parents, Rajiv and Jaya, about their daughter’s achievement.

Rajiv said: “We celebrate Siya’s entry into the mainstream luxury fashion market as London is the fashion capital of the world and Asians are the largest ethnic minority in the UK. This achievement helps demonstrate that race or background should no longer be a barrier to entering the fashion industry. Children should feel empowered to pursue their dreams, regardless of their origins.”

Jaya explained she didn’t get Siya into modelling to become famous; she simply wanted her to enjoy the experience, have fun, and express herself.

She added: “Honestly, I think I was more nervous than Siya! Siya has always been so fiercely independent and really comfortable in her own skin. Whether she’s shining as the star in school plays or modelling for brands like Calpol and Skechers, she loves being in the spotlight.

“In the end, Siya had an incredible day with the Burberry team and was really looked after. She especially enjoyed getting her hair styled!”

By modelling for Burberry, Rajiv highlighted that his daughter now joins the ranks of notable figures who have worked with the brand, including models Cara Delevingne and Kate Moss, actress Emma Watson, and even Romeo Beckham, David Beckham’s son.
