Sausages, succulent bacon, baked beans and perfectly crispy toast. These sound like the best items for breakfast, but the real and discerning judge would be biker, Victor Four.
Touring the country on his bike to find the top airfield cafe, he landed at Elstree Aerodrome in Radlett on Thursday, January 8.
With his knife and fork ready, a glorious plate of golden crispness and enticing smells was placed in front of him. Victor Four said the traditional English breakfast, accompanied by a vibrant green smoothie tasted “fantastic”.
Asked what makes these airfield cafes special, he said: “It’s the incredible atmosphere; kids love watching planes, and you can see experienced pilots too.
“It’s a completely different vibe from your traditional roadside cafe, where many are sitting at their laptop and having coffee. You see bustling flight schools, helicopters, and I was even given a fascinating tour of the hangar control path.”
Planning to continue the tasty journey, he plans to tour the UK before heading to Europe, including a trip to the Arctic Circle.
