Students, teachers and families from St John’s Infant and Nursery School in Radlett enjoyed an inclusive community day on Tuesday, May 16.
The day offered the children the opportunity to immerse themselves in activities which encouraged them to learn about other heritages, such as food tasting, dancing, learning other languages, and arts and crafts.
Children wore clothes and costumes with vibrant colours and patterns to represent their heritage, and were able to discuss their clothing choice with others.
Inclusion leader Lana Gillam said: “Our students had smiles on their faces all day. A highlight was having henna patterns on the palm of their hands.”
Head of school Davinia Leggett said: “This is one of my favourite themed days that we open up to the wider school community. Watching different students working together on crafts and making displays just makes the school come alive even more. We enjoy hearing the children discuss their native clothing and hearing about recipes passed down through generations.”
