A Bushey shoplifter has been jailed for six years in connection with a series of business burglaries across Hertfordshire and London.
Niall Daly, 31, of Normansfield Close, pleaded guilty to five burglaries between Monday, April 28, and Thursday, May 1, 2025.
These took place at Morrisons on Cassiobury Drive in Watford, Morrisons on High Road in Bushey Heath, Spar on the High Street in Bushey and two in London.
He also admitted assaulting a police officer and a previous burglary that took place in November 2024.
Daly was sentenced to a total of six years imprisonment at St Albans Crown Court yesterday (Wednesday, July 16).
The cross-border investigation was thanks to diligent work from the Hertsmere Local Crime Unit and Intervention Teams, Watford Intervention, Welwyn Hatfield Local Crime Unit, Scenes of Crime Officers and the Operational Intelligence Team.
Detective Constable Jay Jeffrey, from the Hertsmere Local Crime Unit and who led the investigation, said: “Burglary has a profound and damaging impact on businesses, and I am pleased that Daly will serve a considerable amount of time behind bars.
“Business burglary is not a victimless crime and instead causes a large degree of harm to our communities. I hope this sentence shows there is no place for this behaviour here in Hertfordshire.”
