A water pumping station in Hunton Bridge is undergoing upgrades after Three Rivers District Council (TRDC) approved planning permission.
Kiosks to house water treatment will be installed, as well as processing infrastructure, standalone tanks, filters, pumps and high fencing at the site, located just off Bridge Road.
The covering letter submitted by operators Affinity Water Ltd (AWL) as part of the application reads: “The proposed development will allow for the continued supply of safe potable water to customers in the local area.
“As well as that, it allows AWL to adhere to their statutory responsibilities as set out in the Water Industry Act (1991).”
They added that the upgrades are needed due to the increasing demand for water that they as a company are facing.
An assessment found that there was little to no impact on the environment. A certificate approving the lawfulness of the development’s approval was then issued to AWL and the decision was made concurrently by TRDC on Friday, August 9.
AWL have been contacted for comment.
