A Pinner parishioner was presented with a medal from the Pope in recognition of her exceptional service to the church.

Margaret Wickware, who attends St Luke’s Catholic Church in Love Lane, was presented with the Benemerenti Medal from Pope Leo XIV on Sunday, November 23.

The medal recognises her work supporting catechesis, which involves educating individuals in the Christian faith.

Speaking to Pinnernews, St Luke’s said: “Our parish community is immensely proud of Margaret. Her faith, her generosity, and her deep commitment to teaching have shaped countless families and individuals.

“The honour recognises her decades of dedication to catechesis, particularly her pioneering work in family catechesis.

“Margaret’s influence extends well beyond the local area. She has tutored seminarians preparing for the priesthood, and authored resources and conferences that support catechists nationwide.”
