A shop in Chorleywood is now able to sell alcohol and open for longer hours after its premises licence application was approved.
On Wednesday, January 15, Not Another One on New Parade applied for a new licence permitting the retail of alcohol for consumption off premises and extended opening hours from 7am to 12am.
A Licensing Sub Committee meeting was held on Friday, March 28, where it was revealed that Hertfordshire County Council (HCC) requested the closing time be altered to 11pm.
The application submitted by Bani Traders Ltd received no objections from the list of consultees, although the police also agreed with HCC’s request that the closing time should be altered.
At the meeting, the committee discussed concerns about students from local schools such as St Clement Danes having easier access to alcohol, as well as the trend of large groups congregating around shops of this nature and leaving litter.
The applicant reiterated that no crime solely relating to vape and alcohol shops had occurred in the area.
On Thursday, April 3, Three Rivers District Council revealed that the committee had granted the application. The committee noted that Bani Traders Ltd planned to install external and recycling bins, would carry out staff training to support Challenge 25, and would “completely replace” the “child focused shop”.
Bani Traders Ltd told CHORLEYWOODnews: “A new wine shop is opening in Chorleywood. As a locally-owned business, we are dedicated to offering personalised service and creating a welcoming atmosphere for all our customers.
“We’re committed to being a positive part of the village, supporting local events and fostering a sense of connection.”
