‘IMMENSE CONTRIBUTION’: St Albans street renamed in tribute to late community champion

The St Albans community has celebrated one of their local heroes through the renaming of the street near where she lived.

Mum-of-two Jenny Huggard-Sena was a popular teaching assistant. She helped to support children under the care of Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services and set up the Cottonmill Community Improvement page. She sadly passed away four years ago, aged just 53.

On Saturday, January 27, the local community congregated at Sopwell, near where Jenny lived, to celebrate St Albans City & District Council naming a street after her. Jenny Lane will provide a community hub, including seven new council homes.

Jenny’s husband Jose, who was at the ceremony with their daughter Charlie, said: “Jenny would have been so pleased to see the Cottonmill community hub up and running – somewhere for us all to have fun, relax, learn, or just walk the dog.”

Mayor of the City and District of St Albans councillor Anthony Rowlands said: “Jenny made an immense contribution to the strengthening of community bonds in Cottonmill. I hope this road naming and plaque will act as a meaningful tribute to Jenny.”
