An iconic costume from one of the most popular Christmas films ever made was recently sold at auction by a Rickmansworth company.
Propstore held an auction in London at the beginning of this month featuring a number of props and costumes from popular festive films.
This included Will Ferrell’s green and yellow costume from the movie Elf, which was expected to sell for up to £200,000 but fetched £239,000. It comes complete with a pointed hat and black leather shoes featuring curled toes.
The auction featured other items from popular Christmas films, including a stop-motion cat puppet from The Nightmare Before Christmas, a script for Love Actually annotated by Alan Rickman, and Bruce Willis’ submachine gun from Die Hard.
Also under the hammer were Mike Myers’ blue velvet costumes from Austin Powers, an SFX Xenomorph mask from Aliens Vs. Predator – Requiem, and Marty McFly’s hoverboard from Back to the Future.
