Parents have hailed a local community hero who voluntarily cleared paths to help children get to school safely in Hunton Bridge.
Yvonne Stanley contacted KINGSnews to share the selfless work of Thomas Parry.
Parents had complained to the parish, district and county councils about the area of land on the approach to St Paul’s C of E VA Primary & Nursery School, which had become overgrown with nettles, thorns and brambles.
A post on social media prompted Thomas to take matters into his own hands.
Yvonne, whose children attend the school, said: “His selfless act has enabled the children and their parents to do the school run without being stung by nettles and scratched by thorns or brambles.
“It might seem to not be much, but he has improved the lives of so many. He has received a wealth of thanks and appreciation from many school parents.
“Children from the school made him a thank you card and a parent delivered it to him. Another parent made him a cake and presented it to him along with a gift. We are all really truly grateful to him for all his efforts.”
