Local schools and churches have donated around 500kg of food to Rickmansworth Foodbank following Harvest Festival collections.
After a busy summer helping those in need, stock at the foodbank was running low. Following these recent donations, the foodbank has now been fully replenished with enough stock to see them through to the Christmas period.
Speaking to Rickynews, foodbank manager Iris Bangs said that every church and most schools in Rickmansworth donated food items, resulting in their largest-ever Harvest Festival intake.
Looking forward, the foodbank is aiming to revamp or relocate as its current facilities are not adequately meeting its needs.
Iris said: “The bank’s strapline is ‘nobody should go to bed hungry in Three Rivers’.”
However, she has seen an increase in the number of people needing the service, so now more than ever it is vital that the foodbank is fit for purpose.
Iris is appealing to anyone who may be able to help with the relocation to email info@rickmansworth.foodbank.org.uk
