Residents and business owners in Ruislip have voiced their concerns over utility works being given the green light on some of Ruislip’s busiest routes if HS2 goes ahead. Works on West End Road, Long Drive and Bridgwater Road will cause pandemonium in the area after the estimated timescale for the works was announced on May 13. Business owners along the West End Road are also deeply worried that the works may cause their businesses to shut down for good. A spokesman for fancy dress shop, Lets Party, told My Ruislip News that the works will have massive repercussions for the business. She said: “The plan is to shut the whole road and even the back access behind the shop. “This will have a massive impact on us as we won’t be able to do any deliveries, which is a huge part of our business as there will be no way of loading our van. “It is devastating really.” For more on this read the next edition of My Ruislip News out on June 19.
