Police are appealing for witnesses and further information after a man was charged in connection with an affray in Watford.

Emmanuele Mendy, 20, of Whippendell Road in Watford, has been charged with affray and possession of a bladed article in a public place.

The charges relate to an altercation in Whippendell Road, Watford, at around 8.30pm on Wednesday, September 6, where several men assaulted one another. Machetes were used during the incident but no one was injured.

In addition to the charges against Mendy, two further men have been arrested in connection with the investigation.

A 25-year-old man from Watford and a 19-year-old man from Harrow have both been arrested on suspicion of affray. They have been released on bail with strict conditions while the investigation continues.

PC Ross Lang, from the Watford Local Crime Unit, said: “This incident happened on a busy road at a time when many people would have been walking or driving past, so we are appealing for anyone who believes they witnessed what happened to come forward and speak to us if they have not done so already.

“We’re particularly keen to hear from anyone who believes they may have dashcam, doorbell camera or CCTV footage that could assist us with our enquiries.”
