A man was left hospitalised with potentially life-changing injuries after his car was smashed into by a driver fleeing the police in a chase in Stanmore.

The 36-year-old man was hit in his car by the black BMW that was being pursued along Honeypot Lane just after midnight on Wednesday, October 19. No arrests have since been made, though the 36-year-old man was released from hospital after a week.

A Met spokesperson said: “At around 00:31hrs on Wednesday, October 19, officers on patrol in a marked vehicle in Stanmore attempted to stop a black BMW.

“The driver of the BMW failed to stop when indicated to do so. He drove away from officers who pursued him.

“At 00:34hrs, the BMW was involved in a collision with two other vehicles in Honeypot Lane. The driver of the BMW ran from the scene.

“The occupant of one of the other vehicles, a 36-year-old man, was taken to hospital where his injuries were assessed as non-life threatening but potentially life changing.”

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 12:37am today (October 19) to reports of a road traffic collision on Honeypot Lane, Stanmore.

“We sent an ambulance crew and a medic in a fast response car to the scene and treated a man before taking him to hospital.”
