A Gerrards Cross-born woman is one of several Buckinghamshire residents who have been recognised in His Majesty the King’s first-ever Birthday Honours List.

Patricia Margaret Brennan-Barratt has been awarded an Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the list, which was released on June 16, for her services to further education.

Patricia has worked in further education for 36 years and is the current chief executive officer and principal at Northampton College.

Since taking over as principal 11 years ago, the college has risen 156 places in the national league tables and has become one of the country’s top colleges.

She said: “I am absolutely delighted to receive this honour, and this is something that fills me with immense pride.

“This is not just an award for me’ it’s recognition of the way my colleagues, governors, and the college’s employer and sector body partners are making every effort to support our students.

“It’s a real pleasure to be part of such an important sector that makes a difference to so many people.”
