GET INVOLVED: Croxley pubs collect plastic tubs to raise funds for cancer charity

Published on: 10th January 2024   |   By: Panayiota Demosthenous   |   Category: Uncategorized

Two Croxley pubs are taking part in a nationwide plastic collection initiative to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The Red House and The Fox & Hounds are both taking part in Tub2Pub, an initiative run by Greene King. The chain’s pubs, restaurants and hotels from across the UK will be collecting clean and empty confectionary tubs, biscuit tubs and cracker tubs from January 1 until February 11.

All the tubs will be taken to a plastic reprocessing centre, where they will be sold to manufacturers. All money raised from the sale of these plastics will go directly to Macmillan Cancer Support.

This is the fourth year that this initiative has taken place, with 50,000 tubs and more than 5,000kg of plastic collected in the last two years alone.

Vance Fairman-Smith, Greene King’s supply chain director, said: “Our customers have shown they really welcome this scheme, which stops the plastic tubs they have left over from Christmas going to waste.”
