“Is anyone even listening?” is the plea of a Croxley business, as a new report reveals that nearly 90,000 hospitality jobs have been lost since last year’s budget.
The Kitchen in Croxley shared that they are finding it “hideously difficult” to run as they joined other businesses in sharing the hashtag #TaxedOut.
Research conducted by UK Hospitality has found that in the nine months since the 2024 budget, 89,000 jobs have been lost, and one-third of businesses are now operating at a loss.
The organisation’s Taxed-Out budget campaign is calling for three changes to be made to the budget: lowering business rates, an extension of the National Insurance contribution exemptions, and a cut to hospitality VAT.
According to UK Hospitality, these changes would “revive high streets, boost jobs, [and] drive investment”.
Sharing the campaign, The Kitchen said: “Trying to find the joy but we’re all run ragged.”
