An art student who helped to create murals in the now closed off Leavesden Hospital underpass has come forward with her experiences.
In last month’s edition of ABBOTSnews, an article highlighted how photos and images of the underpass, taken shortly after the hospital closed in 1995, had recently emerged.
However, the identity of the artists behind the murals was unknown.
Now, a social media post from Angela Weston, who was involved in the painting, has been able to shed some light on this mystery.
Angela said: “Yes, it was painted in 1986. I was one of the art students who did them!
“I only did a couple of days as one of the original three painters couldn’t make it those particular days. We were doing a foundation course in art at Ridge Street College in Watford prior to our fine art degrees.
“They asked for volunteers. It may have been in the Easter holidays or as the course ended. We enjoyed it.
“I went back to Leavesden Hospital before it closed. I do believe I went to the subway to see my handiwork as an 18 year old!”
