The Mayor of Hertsmere, Cllr Carey Keates, is looking for nominations for the council’s annual Civic Awards early next year. The awards recognise unsung heroes from across the borough who play an active role in their community. There are six Civic Awards up for grabs as well as the Dave Rankin Award for improving community safety and for the first time, a dedicated Youth Award for under 18s. Mayor Cllr Keates said: “We know there are lots of people in Hertsmere who volunteer their time to help others. The council really values the work of these people, whether they run a local sports club for young people, organise community events and activities for the benefit of others or have dedicated their time to caring for someone else. Whatever they do, we want to hear all about how special they are.” The deadline for nominations is January 14. Winners will be chosen by a panel of judges and an award ceremony will take place as part of the council’s annual Civic Dinner in March. To nominate someone and for more information call the mayor’s secretary on 020 8207747
