At the eleventh hour on the eleventh day of the eleventh month councillors, staff from Hertsmere Borough Council, representatives from the Royal British Legion and members of the public came together for a Two Minute Silence to mark Armistice Day. The Mayor of Hertsmere, Councillor Carey Keates, led the service. He said: “The first minute is to remember those who gave their lives in two world wars and in more than seventy other conflicts so that today we are able to enjoy the peace and freedom obtained at such a high price. “The second minute is dedicated to their families living on without them and to all those who are living today with injuries suffered during those conflicts and to their families.”
