A cricketer from Bushey travelled to Sri Lanka for a 12-day tour with Hertfordshire Cricket Women’s Team.

Millie Dyer, 18, formerly of Queens School, travelled with the 16-strong squad where they played four matches across three different cities.

The team travelled to Colombo, Kandy and Negombo where they played at international and first class stadiums including the Paikiasothy Saravanamuttu Stadium and the Asgiriya Stadium.

Whilst on tour they also watched England men play Sri Lanka at the R Premadasa International Stadium for the T20 as well as visiting temples and an elephant sanctuary.

The women’s team won two matches by 149 and 119 runs and they lost two games by 169 and 141 runs whilst playing in temperatures reaching 32 degrees and 80 per cent humidity.

Millie Dyer said: “The tour was the most amazing chance of a life time experience, loved every minute. I loved spending time with my team mates, bonding, going in the pool and playing cricket in the beach obviously.”
