Hemel Town Ladies clinched the Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Women’s Football League title last month (April 28) with a win over Houghton Athletics Ladies.
The Tudoresses went into their last game only needing one point to secure the Division 1 title. The team done significantly better with a 6-2 victory.
An early goal from Ella Baker was quickly cancelled out as Houghton equalised. Bianca Hedgecock put the girls 2-1 up before Lizzie Richardson quickly added a third. The league’s top goal scorer Nat McConville then made it 4-1 on the stroke of half time.
The second half saw Charlene Turturici-Clarke add two of her specialty long range strikes to make it 6-1. While the girls were getting the champagne, ready Houghton pulled another one back, 6-2 final score.
At the time of going to press the Tudoresses are looking to secure the double, with a cup final at Kempston on May 12 against local rivals St Albans Ladies.
