A band of volunteers are showing just how much Chipperfield residents care about each other with the launch of a new monthly wellness hub.
Chipperfield Care is a charity that was founded over 30 years ago and helps residents of the village who are unable to find their own transport get to medical appointments.
Run entirely by volunteers, the group also hold regular lunches to help people in the community to connect.
After a large legacy was left to the charity, volunteers at Chipperfield Care decided to use the money to start a monthly wellness hub and coffee morning for residents.
The inaugural session was held at Chipperfield Village Hall on Tuesday, June 17. Attendees could book massage, hairdressing, and chiropody appointments, or sit back and enjoy homemade cakes and refreshments.
A member of KINGSnews went down to the event and spoke to organiser Patricia Harrison.
She said: “It will be a great thing for the community, especially in the winter months.”
Chair of the charity Judy Saunders added: “All those who I spoke to today felt that our inaugural hub meeting went very well.
“Our aim is to provide a friendly space where our guests can enjoy a coffee and cake whilst chatting to other local people and also somewhere where locals can easily make use of the [services] at extremely competitive rates.”
The money raised from the hub will go back into the charity to help fund more volunteers.
The next session will take place at Chipperfield Village Hall on Tuesday, July 22. You can book a hairdressing, massage, or chiropodist appointment on WhatsApp at 07356 222123.
