Officers from Thames Valley Police and an Army Bomb disposal team were called to Chalfont St Peter last month after a resident discovered an unusual suspected WW2 shell in their garden.
Emergency services attended the scene on Wednesday, May 4 alongside specialist bomb disposal experts, who identified the item was of no risk and disposed of it safely.
Thames Valley Police said: “Called to a report of a WW2 shell found by a gardener at a property in Chalfont St Peter. 11 Explosive Ordnance Disposal & Search Regiment attended and were quick to identify it was of no risk and disposed of accordingly. Thank you to the team for their assistance.”
One resident commented, saying: “It looks like an anti-aircraft shell, there were defensive guns in the village during the war, one of which was on the allotments where the Pennington Rd estate now stands.”
