Published on: 17th September 2022   |   By: News Bulletin   |   Category: Uncategorized

Detectives are appealing for witnesses and information following a serious assault in Watford which has left a man in a critical condition.

At 12.50am this morning (September 17), there was an altercation between a man and a group of about five men, believed to be known to the victim, in The Parade in Watford High Street.  The victim – a man aged in his 30s – received a serious head injury during the assault, and he is in a critical condition in hospital.

Detective Constable Ian Blackledge from the Watford Local Crime Unit said: “The victim received serious head injuries from this assault. The exact circumstances of what happened during the early hours of this morning are being thoroughly investigated.  We are continuing to speak to members of the public today and are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and saw the victim or the group of men, or who saw the incident itself.  We believe there was also an earlier incident between the victim, who was with three friends at around 12.25am in Market Street, and this group.”

The group of men are described as black men wearing dark clothing.  One of the men was wearing a black puffer jacket with the letters ‘W M’ in white on the back.

Anyone with information is asked to contact DC Blackledge directly on 01923 472981 or email ian.blackledge@herts.police.uk
