Rickmansworth residents have banded together to help those affected by the recent earthquakes in Turkey and Syria.
At the time of writing, the disaster has claimed more than 46,000 lives and devastated both countries. Rescue efforts are still ongoing.
Within two days of the tragedy, residents of Valley Road, The Drive, The Clump and the surrounding areas came together to do something to help those affected.
After a message was put on a local neighbourhood WhatsApp group, residents flocked to a drop-off point on Valley Road, where donated items such as non-perishable foods, nappies, toothbrushes, baby wipes, tents, warm clothing and more were gathered into a lorry.
These items have now been taken to a Turkish community centre in London, which is facilitating the transport of these items to Turkey and Syria to give to those in need.
