Published on: 21st September 2021   |   By: News Bulletin   |   Category: Uncategorized

Shops and other traders across Three Rivers district are able to apply for new specialist support from leading experts aimed at getting more customers through their doors in the key months before Christmas.

Three Rivers District Council has partnered with high street retail experts SaveTheHighStreet.org to launch the High Street Health Check programme. The scheme offers businesses free health checks which will help them adopt strategies tailored for independent traders.

The free support will also provide a recommended action plan to help achieve individual business goals, a step by step guide and one-to-one calls and online chats with expert advisors. The support will be personalised for each business across a number of different themes such as increasing footfall, managing finances, collaborating locally, making the most of Christmas and more.

The High Street Health Check scheme is one of a series of new initiatives being launched by the council this autumn to help businesses bounce back from the impact of the COVID pandemic.

Councillor Sarah Nelmes, Leader of Three Rivers District Council, said: “The next few months are key for our local high street traders, no matter what part of the district they are in.

“Businesses are coming off the back of the extraordinary challenge of COVID and all the restrictions, and now they are heading towards what should be the busiest shopping period of the year. I am delighted that we are able to offer this free programme of support to help retailers get more customers through the door and really thrive.”

The programme is open to high street businesses or market traders, including restaurants, cafes, hair salons, retailers and others across the district. In the coming weeks the district council and SaveTheHighStreet.org will be hosting a series of webinars covering some of the key topics to help traders.

Alex Schlagman, chief executive of SaveTheHighStreet.org, said: “Whether you’d like to accelerate your business growth or just get some more help you can trust, then the Three Rivers High Street Health Check programme is here to help. We are on a mission to ensure our high streets are successful today and in the future, and we are excited to be working with Three Rivers District Council and are determined to make a real difference.”

The council has recently launched its Business Growth Grants of between £2,000 and £5,000 to help those impacted by COVID restrictions.
