HELPING HAND: Hatch End woman, 94, shows incredible act of kindness

Published on: 6th February 2020   |   By: News Desk   |   Category: Uncategorized

94-year-old Adele Phillips, who lives in Hatch End, has been making ‘bonding squares’ for mothers and their premature babies at Northwick Park Hospital in Harrow.

Bonding squares are shared between a mother and her new-born who can often spend several weeks or months in an incubator before they are strong enough to return home.

Donna Tuffs, who assists Adele at her home, said: “I originally gave Adele knitting to do because she used to knit years ago and does not go out much anymore.

“I explained what they were to her and I was amazed when I saw her a couple of days later as she had finished one and started on the next one, telling me that the first one was for the mother and she was now knitting the one for the baby.”

Donna offered to deliver the squares to the Neonatal Unit, but Adele wanted to deliver them herself after she had wrapped them.
