A local hospice has received a financial boost of £800 after a donation from Kings Langley Parish Council. Parish councillors went to the Love to Give Shop, which raises money for the Hospice of St Francis on November 12 and presented manager Kim Campbell with the money raised from their annual gardens competition. Kim said: “Any funds are always gratefully received. The money will be used to keep hospice beds open. We’re hoping to be a part of the community and build up a good relationship with everyone.” Gerry Angiolini organises the competition on behalf of the parish council. He explained why the Hospice of St Francis had been chosen to benefit from this year’s competition. Cllr Angiolini said: “They’re a deserving cause and they have brightened up our high street. They are new into the village and we want to raise money for them.” The shop will be officially opened on November 30 by local MP Mike Penning.
