HELPING HAND: Disability charity ready to provide support to those who need it across Herts

Published on: 30th December 2020   |   By: Holly Bullen   |   Category: Uncategorized

A local charity is hoping to raise awareness of the work they do and encourage people to get in touch if they need assistance.

Remap Hertfordshire South is the local branch of national charity Remap, who help make life easier for those living with disabilities.

They help to design custom-made equipment and specially designed devices such as parallel bars which helped a young boy who has cerebral palsy develop his confidence to walk.

One example of the charity’s efforts in the local community is their work to create a Snakes and Ladders board game for a Bovingdon resident with visual impairment.

A spokesperson for the charity said: “To help our client guide their counter across the board we created raised plastic snakes and ladders, alongside raised wooden boarders for each individual square of the game. These squares and the counters used a magnetic system to ensure the counters could not be knocked over.

“This is a brilliant indicator of the creativity of our engineers and our dedication to make equipment that works on every level.”
