HELPING HAND: Coronavirus community group for Northwood, Ruislip and Pinner hits 1,000 members

Published on: 11th April 2020   |   By: Jake Levison   |   Category: Uncategorized

Coronavirus Community Help for Northwood, Northwood Hills, Ruislip and Pinner now has 1,000 members online and almost 200 people who have volunteered to help.

In just two weeks, they have brought essential shopping to elderly residents, picked up and delivered vital prescriptions and are even walking dogs for people who can’t leave their homes.

They are also helping online, signposting important community information and highlighting useful resources such as special shopping hours for NHS and key workers.

The group, which was created by Ian Chapman-Curry in late March, is described as “a grassroots, volunteer-led community action group aiming to help those who are affected by the coronavirus outbreak.”

This includes those self-isolating and NHS and key workers who need some extra support. They can help with delivering groceries, keeping in contact and providing support.

Mr Chapman-Curry said: “we are a group of people who just want to help each other as we go through this crisis. Whether it is practical help, a friendly voice on the phone or providing essential information, we are here. Last week, we were even able to source a fish and chips delivery for an 82-year old who was missing his weekly treat.”
