Kings Langley FC (KLFC) recently took on Thame United in a match that coincided with the official launch of the club’s partnership with a local mental health charity.
Hector’s House was created in memory of Hector Stringer, who died by suicide at age 18. Set up by his parents Robert and Belinda, the organisation aims to prevent suicide and mental health stigma through education, awareness and support.
In the lead up to the game, KLFC turned their social media green to raise awareness of the charity and, before the game on Friday, September 27, warmed up in their bright green Hector’s House T-shirts.
The players also observed a one-minute silence for people who are suffering from mental health issues.
Despite the club losing 0-2 to Thame United, KLFC chairman Darren Eliot expressed the importance of the partnership.
He said: “This partnership has the potential to reach so many people across the club, from our young people right the way through to supporters of our first team, and it’s such an important message.”
