COMMUNITY ACTION: Officers meet with Bushey residents to tackle burglary concerns

Published on: 11th February 2023   |   By: Holly Bullen   |   Category: Uncategorized

Bushey residents have come together with police to discuss how best to tackle a recent spate of burglaries in the town.

Last month in BusheyNews, we reported that officers from Herts Police would be meeting with residents to discuss their concerns following several break-ins.

There have since been several engagement events with officers meeting with the community to share crime prevention advice.

Councillor Linda Silver said: “The discussions by the police went into great depth with advice and help concerning keeping our homes safe.

“They also promised more patrols around the streets in Bushey. The information was very helpful indeed.”

Safer Neighbourhood Inspector Rachael Robertson said: “During the events we updated residents on the work we’re doing to reduce and prevent further burglaries, including increased patrols – both overt and convert.

“We were also able provided information about the method the offenders have been using to gain access to properties, such as climbing onto flat roofs to get to upstairs windows. And we shared crime prevention advice and handed out timer switches which can be used to light up homes when no one is in – a simple yet effective tool to put off burglars.

“Many residents also took up our offer to have a crime prevention survey at their home. If this is something residents would like us to do, they can contact us by emailing busheyandradlett@herts.police.uk and we can arrange a suitable time.

“We hope that residents have felt reassured that we are doing all we can to address burglary in the area and would like to reassure people that we are not seeing the same level of offences in the area than we experienced in early January.”
