Residents and staff at two Bupa care homes in St Albans recently marked Silver Sunday – the national day that celebrates the older generation coming together and connecting with the community around them to help boost wellbeing.
The celebrations, organised by Santina House, Senior Activities Coordinator at Allington Court and Tenterden House, included a performance by local entertainer Franz, a sing-along and a delicious afternoon tea at Allington Court, while residents at Tenterden House enjoyed a pub quiz, followed by a traditional roast dinner.
The Silver Sunday activities were a hit for all residents and families at both Bupa care homes.
Gwen, a resident at Allington Court, said: “What a fantastic afternoon! The activities made me so happy, and it was lovely to spend time chatting with my fellow residents. I love a good sing song and a bit of cake.”
Elizabeth, a resident at Tenterden House, added: “I thoroughly enjoyed the quiz, and the roast was smashing.”
Abi Ajiboye, Home Manager at Allington Court and Tenterden House Bupa care homes, said: “All of the team and residents across the care homes had a brilliant time celebrating Silver Sunday. At Bupa, we know how important it is for our residents to continue to enjoy new activities and to connect with one another. We look forward to continuing to host activities that put a big smile on our residents’ faces.”
