Bringing together the community, challenging social barriers, and helping people smash their personal goals are just some of the small ways a Bushey karate club has been making a difference.
Karate instructor Richard Plaskow jointly runs Hertfordshire KDS, a not-for-profit global organisation helping people “learn to be confident in themselves”.
After launching in September, the club is now self-sufficient and has enough regular members to cover the hall fees.
To mark the occasion, Richard held an opening session on Thursday, November 28 and invited friends from clubs in Essex, London, St Albans and Stevenage to come along to celebrate.
This included Adrian Quick, who supported Richard with the KDS expansion into Stevenage and Bushey.
Richard shared: “People have told me the karate club has made them who they are today.”
Richard and the other students are encouraging residents to “think differently about their health and wellbeing as we move in 2024 and give Karate-do Shotokai a try”. Find out more at www.t.ly/6swAa
