Published on: 16th November 2021   |   By: Bryn Holmes   |   Category: Uncategorized

A woman was deceived into pulling over her car by two men pretending to be police officers.

The incident occurred between 9:45pm and 10pm on the evening of Tuesday, November 2.

A woman was driving down Shenley Road when she was stopped by a dark vehicle with blue and red flashing lights.

The passenger of the vehicle got out and claimed that she did not have insurance.

When challenged on his identity as a police officer by the woman he refused to provide ID.

When she attempted to make a phone call, the man got back inside the car, and it drove off.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident.

Dacorum Chief Inspector Jason Keane said: “I am aware that this news may be alarming to the public, but I would like to reassure you that we have not received any other reports of this nature to date.

“The woman was not physically harmed and at no point did the males attempt to grab her.

“Nevertheless, this was understandably frightening, and we are doing all we can to investigate. The victim did the right thing by challenging the males.

“Remember, if you are stopped by a person claiming to be a police officer and you feel uncertain about their identity, you can call 999 straight away.

“If you have any information about this incident, please get in touch by calling the non-emergency number 101 quoting crime reference 41/86302/21.”
